NISEKO
The town of Niseko is located far to the north, on the western side of the island of Hokkaido.
Niseko is located between two beautiful national parks, Yotei Nature Park (1,898m) to the east and Niseko Annupuri National Park (1,309m) to the north, and the valley where the small town rests is unique for its breathtaking rolling hills, which are due to its location.
The Shiribetsu River that runs through the center of town, is one of the clearest in all of Japan. It even won an award for it in 2004. The climate in the landlocked area is somewhat uncommon, with a chilly average temperature of 6.3?C. The area is also known for its impressive snowfall, which can reach a depth of 200 cm in the winter. The fine powder snow is known far and wide, and it attracts visitors from all over the world to experience the one of a kind skiing and snowboarding found in Niseko. Some visitors are so enchanted by the town that they make it their home.
Snow related activities
If you love to ski or snowboard, then you are in for a real treat in Niseko. The snow is just right, not too heavy, and not too light. The most prolific spots are built on Niseko Annupuri mountain, which has a breathtaking height of 1,308m. There is Hanazono Niseko Resort, Niseko Mt. Resort Grand Hirafu, Niseko Village, Niseko Annupuri Kokusai Ski Area. All four ski locations and resorts together form the collected ski hotspot known as Niseko United. Even though they are all located on the same mountain, each one offers a unique adventure and has a spirit of its own.
Niseko agriculture
The region is home to about 150 different farms. Agricultural products are produced on approximately 2,000 hectares of rice fields. Major crops include potatoes, rice, melons, asparagus, tomatoes, and lily bulbs. The foothills of Mt. Yotei, which includes Niseko, have long been known for potatoes. But in recent years, high-quality rice, melons, asparagus, and tomatoes have been attracting attention as well. Niseko agriculture also focuses on producing safe and healthy agricultural products and aims for sustainable agriculture by reducing pesticides and creating a recycling system for organic matter (such as compost).

The charm of Niseko does not fade away in the summer. There are still many outdoor activities for you to partake in during the warmer months. There are gorgeous mountains to climb, magnificent trails to follow, and the valley looks genuinely stunning on horseback. You can also try canoeing or rafting down the sparkling clear river.
